There also have been some of the brown stems that have just shriveled up and I’ve cut off. But it seems that sometimes browns stems can be healthy yet, yes?

I grow outdoors in SE FL and now the humidity is 70 to 90%. How many days wet and dry would yourecommend? Plants reasonable healthy now. Thanks, Bill R

    Try diluted brewed coffee. After I make my coffee, I boil water and dilute the grounds and let it steep to room temperature, add the Orchid roots and let it sit 15-30 mins and remove it. Repeat once a week. It's growing like crazy. No flowers yet but a lot of new roots.

    Hmmm 🤔. If wild orchids get fed every time it rains, why would the nutrient level change from one season to another? I'm suggesting that in the wild, orchids get fed less because in their native habitat, some times of the year, it rains less? Something to ponder. Sending lots of love 💖 from sunny 🌞 Arizona 🌵. Take care of yourself and each other 😷

    • @daniellesorchidranch1591
      @daniellesorchidranch1591 13 дней назад

      It depends on what is going on in the environment at the time. Some seasons there is more rain and so more of the nutrients get washed away each time and thus less nutrients have a chance to build up. Other seasons, it rains less and so the nutrients build up and when it rains, it’s a more nutrient rich solution. Also sometimes there is leaf litter and breaking down organic matter, and sometimes there’s not depending on the season. There is never a steady nutrient Supply in nature, it depends on multiple things in the environment. Thank you for your thoughts and for watching!

    Thanks for the great video and detailed explanation. My question is..... I see all your orchids are in water in the video. Do you empty ALL OF THEM once week too? Or once they're thriving you leave them in standing water. That wasn't clear.....please reply.

    • @daniellesorchidranch1591
      @daniellesorchidranch1591 13 дней назад

      Usually, I put just enough water that by the time I go to water them again, the orchid is dry. That is because I live in a cooler environment and so I have found that long periods of time with standing water is not good for my orchids in general (a few do prefer constant water). However, if I lived in a hotter environment, the orchid could certainly tolerate a small amount of standing water at the bottom of the glass. I do know that there are growers in the southern part of the United States that always have a little bit of water in the glass. I did have that for my Phalaenopsis orchids for many years. But now I climate control the room and so it is not necessary in the summer to keep a reservoir of water for them.

    Wonderful information from start to finish. My question is: are clay pots good for repotting a health orchid. Plastic, to me, seems “off” and unnatural.

    • @daniellesorchidranch1591
      @daniellesorchidranch1591 13 дней назад

      You could use clay pots, however, just a word of caution, the clay does have a tendency to wick moisture away from the orchid so wherever the orchid roots touch the clay, they may have a tendency to die back if the clay is porous. try to get clay pots that are glazed on the inside. That’s one of the reasons I use glass instead of plastic where I can.
